Very interesting, thank you. At the front you state that the Security agencies should have seen Jan 6 coming and dealt with it years ago. When the history of "dealing with it" has has had the opposite effect and so successfully fed the Western/Southern outlaw mythology (Waco, Weaver, McVeigh etc), what is it that can be easily done, especially in this post-truth social media times?

Bruno, that's a good point. I'm not entirely sure because I don't know to what degree groups like the SCV were being surveilled in 1995. But I can't help think that a cointelpro type disruption aimed at the militia movement should have been possible ... I think the FBI/DEA/ATF inability to deal with the situations you mention indicates how far from understanding how the various strands of white supremacy movement work and interact those organizations actually are. That said, the three examples you give, which immediately preceeded my trip to Mississippi, took place 25 years ago, so maybe they had been having success in monitoring and disrupting, until Trump's election called them out of the woodwork and gave them a figurehead to unite around.

Thank you Michael. Your explanation throws light on what happened during the riot at the Capitol . I am a Canadian and could see Donald Trump would cause trouble on January 06. I was horrified to see the Confederate flag on display, but did not know until later that the bulk of the rioters were Neo-Nazis and white supremacists. This is very dangerous for the future of the US. Canada cannot continue to be complacent either as there are about 60 Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups up here. Excellent book on this subject is WEB OF HATE

by Warren Kinsella . I will follow your writing with interest.
